Beginning January 1, 2013, paras will be required to verify their graduation from a high school or passing the GED.  This will be a requirement at the time of application to the BOEE for first time certification.  Types of verification accepted are:  photo copy of high school diploma, photo copy of high school transcripts with graduation date, photo copy of certificate of GED completion, letter from school district where graduated with year graduated listed, letter from program GED was completed from including year completed, or letter from State Department of Education verifying graduation or GED completion.

Keystone AEA realizes the importance of para support in enhancing the educational achievements of children. Keystone assists over 900 paras in their work by providing:

  • Individual check-out ID numbers to enable paras to directly access materials from the Keystone AEA Media Center
  • Resource materials in the Keystone AEA Instructional Media lab.
  • Needs assessment to determine para needs each summer.
  • Inservices on topics important to paraeducators within local school districts and through Keystone AEA.
  • Help to schools in meeting the state requirements related to paraeducators.
  • Paraeducator Certification program based on state criteria (Generalist, Area of Concentration, and Recertification).
