Highlights from March 7, 2016 - Dubuque STEAM It Up

Code Word: STEAM it Up!
Gaming, coding, and beyond with 6-8th grade students

Team requirements:  Any teacher can create a team consisting of a maximum of 6 students (3 girls and 3 boys) and 1 teacher.  Because of their size the Dubuque Area Middle Schools teams may consist of 10-12  students (5/6 girls and 5/6 boys) and 1 or 2 teachers. Registration is limited.
TIP: Consider bringing students who are good leaders so they can share the learning with others at their school.

General Overview
Saturate your school with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) sessions for Middle School students.  Students and teachers will learn and do STEAM activities that are adaptable to take back to school. The morning will be all hands-on sessions. The afternoon will include guidance and planning time for setting up a STEAM day at your school. Many resources will be shared.

Plans include sessions by a KCRG meteorologist, UW Platteville Engineers, Iowa State Extension and OutReach, robot programming and more! Sculptris 3D drawing will be available for teachers.

TEACHERS: Please ask your students to consider thoughtful weather related questions to be answered by KCRG Meteorologist Justin Gehrts. If their question is chosen, students will get chance to read their question aloud if they choose to and be eligible to win a fun prize. Note*** all question submissions will be thrown into a hat and drawn at random. Not all questions will be chosen.

Use this link to submit your student questions http://goo.gl/forms/11b6Zyidzv
Submissions will be accepted until the end of the day on Feb. 29, 2016.
