Refdesk.com indexes quality Internet sites. This site is a database of links that are updated weekly and current links are checked regularly. Refdesk.com brings many general reference sites together as well as more specific fact sites.
LibrarySpot.com
This is a virtual library resource center. It links you to various reference sites including encyclopedias, almanacs, biographical sites, and more.
Library of Congress
 A database of more than 121 million items, including text, photographs and music, that the Library of Congress has in its collection.

Encyclopedias:

World Book Online - Provide free to our school by our Area Education Agency (AEA).   Contact school for username and password.
Britannica
At Britannica's web site you can keyword search the 2000 edition of the encyclopedia, as well as the web site, magazines, dictionary and thesaurus. This site also provides teacher resources, homework help, current New York Times articles, and current prices for Britannica products.

Almanacs:

Information Please Almanac
This is the online version of Information Please Almanac. It combines an encyclopedia, dictionary, atlas and several almanacs.
Factmonster.Com
A student online version of Information Please Almanac.  Includes student features such as games, quizzes, and homework help.

Dictionary:

Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Merriam-Webster web site provides access to the 2001 copyright edition of the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus. Links on this site are language related such as word games, foreign language dictionaries, and geographical dictionary.

World Fact Book OR WorldFactbook2000
Reports on 267 separate geographic entities. Each entity is described in terms of geographic specifications, people, government, economy, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues.
National Geographic Map Machine
National Geographic's 7th edition atlas is available at this site. A variety of kinds of maps are available such as dynamic maps, atlas plates, historical maps, maps of Mars, and street maps.

This site provides a search box to 25,000 biographies about people from the past and present.
