Summer 2012 Option: Effigy Mounds

Effigy Mounds: Past Cultures of the Upper Mississippi River Valley

These workshops will include field trips to some of the most impressive and well-preserved ceremonial, archaeological and living sites in the upper Midwest. 

They will be exposed to Pioneer History, Pioneer Music, Early Tin Type Photography, Victorian Clothing, the Arrival of the Voyagers and Settlers, "the Haves & Have Nots" of the Horse and Carriage Days, Native Wildlife, Village Blacksmith, Historic Cultural Cuisine, Pioneer Gardening and Saving Seeds, Pioneer Home, the Art of Artifact Identification, Artifact / Historical Surface Mapping and Life in a Log Home. 

All workshop participants will be exposed to multiple areas of early man in the area and they will have the opportunity to experience and see first hand those items that made history in this part of the Mississippi River Valley.
