There services focus on providing the training necessary to assist persons in becoming as independent in their daily activities as possible.     *The programs offered by LSI's family centered services are designed to keep families intact by preventing a child's removal from the home. The Juvenile Court Services (JCS) and Department of Human Services (DHS) works together with LSI toward this goal. LSI's programs include therapy and counseling to address social, emotional, and behavioral problems. Skill development is provided to restore family communication, social skills, emotional management, and parenting skills. LSI also provides Supported Community Living (SCL) and Respite services through the HCBS/MR Waiver Program.

    • Provides assistance in finding appropriate aides and modified equipment.
    • Offers low vision clinic for individuals whose eye sight cannot be corrected by conventional lenses. A doctor's referral is needed.
    • Submits applications for library services and for free unlimited telephone directory assistance.
    • Teaches skills to allow visually impaired people to maintain maximum independence in their living environment.
    • Provides support and counseling in coping with/and adjusting to loss of vision.
